Obituary

Brenda Lee Hall Jewell, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in White Pigeon. Born on November 22, 1959, in South Bend, IN, Brenda's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, family, and a deep appreciation for her cultural heritage.

Brenda's early life was marked by her remarkable athleticism. A standout track star at Clay High School, she set a state record for the 220-meter run in 1978, a testament to her dedication and spirit. Brenda's zest for life and her competitive edge were qualities that she carried with her throughout her life, inspiring all who knew her.

She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Robert L. Jewell, and their children, N. Scotty Hall age 40, Benjerman Smith Hall age 36, and James Lee Smith Hall age 35. Brenda was a cherished Nana to her grandchildren, Liberty, Cheyenne, Benson, Ava, Gianna, and Carter Lee Hall, who will carry forward her legacy of warmth and joy. Brenda's family circle extended to her adopted family, Annette, Danny, Lisa, Chris, Denise, and Maggy, all of whom she embraced with open arms and a generous heart. Her father, Robert V. Hall, and sister, Debbie Lenoir, will hold dear the memory of Brenda's indomitable spirit. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Ruth Hall, and her sister, Colleen Ward.

Brenda's passions were as electric as they were heartfelt. An ardent fan of 'The Wizard of Oz,' she found solace and inspiration in the song "Over the Rainbow" by Judy Garland. The poignant lyrics resonated with her belief in dreams and the beauty of a life well-lived. Celine Dion's "For All the Times" was another favorite tune that echoed the depth of feeling Brenda had for her loved ones.

Above all, Brenda cherished her roles within her family. Being a Momma, Nana, friend, sister spirit, Auntie Poohie, daughter, and a proud adopted member of the Tomkiewicz family brought her immeasurable joy. Her fondest memory was of the blessing of having her three sons, who were the center of her world.

Brenda took immense pride in her Native American heritage. As a shawoman of her tribe, she was a beacon of wisdom and strength for her community. Her grandchildren, affectionately named Sunshine, Star, Moonbeam, Moon Cloud, Blue Sky, and Singing Bird, will carry forward her teachings and the essence of her nurturing spirit.

Brenda's journey through life was marked by the love she gave and the lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her family and cultural roots. Brenda Lee Hall Jewell will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
